some questions about Vista Game Explorer
People who use Vista should know it (go to Start Menu and click the Game shortcut), I got some questions for it
1..How does it know a newly installed program is a kind of game and add it to the Game Explorer
2..How does it got the information of the game (such as ESRB , rating score...)
Can I make a thing like this to run in XP ??
Re: some questions about Vista Game Explorer
i am not sure(because i don't have VISTA) maybe it extract those information from registry and new generation of games provide such information in standard format that VISTA can use them.
Re: some questions about Vista Game Explorer
Yes, toraj58 is correct.
These are usually games labeled "Games For Windows", these settings that the Game Explorer gets from the registry include :
BoxArt
AppExePath
And are usually stored in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\GAMEUX\ registry key.
You can manually add old - ish games to the Game Explorer as outlined here :
http://howto.jamescarnley.com/2007/0...sta-games.html
There is also a tool that can be used to achieve this, found here :

To get the Game Explorer running on XP, you could have a look here :

I hope my info was useful... :)
