Definitely not.

How can MFC compete in a .NET world????
Performance

With computer getting faster at an alarming rate, functionality, time to market and internet deployment seem to be more important.
MFC doesn't appear to be very internet friendly.

WINSOCK????
ADO.NET is where it is going!!!
Well, nothing is forever, but MFC is still alive.
As long as you are sure that other stuff is better, why did you ask?
Take a look on the size of the forum.
Answer yourself.
Don't spam this forum which exists to help MFC developers.
No sense in telling us we're outdated.

Well, I wasn't trying to spam or upset anyone, I thought I could get a strong straight answer here.
I have been doing some research on the subject because I DON'T want to drop MFC.
Anyhow, here are the anwers I was looking for, straight from the horses mouth.
FWIW, MFC is going to be around for a while and it seems that Microsoft just wanted to put some extra time into C# before MFC.

Well, you are not the first.
See Should I turn to C# from C++?
And there are more...
Anyhow, in the link you have provided:
A little bit more relaxed now? ;)Quote:
We have no plans to stop supporting any library shipping with Visual C++. All of the VC++ libraries have extremely high usage in real-world code, and Microsoft isn’t about to ignore this fact. We’ll continue to refine existing libraries, and have plans to introduce new libraries as technology evolves.
Yep, much more relaxed.
I also noticed that Visual C++ .NET has WINDOWS FORMS, so they are catering to the C++ community.
I would like to see some ADO.NET technology via MFC??
I'm more relaxed also :D
Thanks to your link ,I've got now the official confirmation of just good sense-based presumptions.
>I would like to see some ADO.NET technology via MFC??
Man ADO is practically old school by now. Google for it.
ADO.Net C++.
Do some research, or at least
0 search codeguru (found codeguru hits for that)
1 search w/google (found multiple hits)
2 search w/MSDN also.
I have another question. In 20 years will .Net be around? Will C++ be around? What do you think? You have to admit, C and C++ will still be there.
