Swapping files with a batch command
Hi,
I have a batch file that I am trying to simply swap files in one directory with another directory. For example, I have two directories (Test and Test2)...
In my batch file, I wrote
move "H:\Test\*" "H:\Test2\"
move "H:\Test2\*" "H:\Test\"
However, this moves the files in the "Test" directory into the "Test2" directory, then moves all those files from "Test2" to "Test".
Now all files are in "Test"
How can I make it simply swap directories?
Re: Swapping files with a batch command
Use the rename command. Make sure that the folder testswap doesn't exist first. This doesn't swap the files but renames the directories so it appears that the files have been swapped. Note that the destination name doesn't take a drive qualifier.
ren h:\test testswap
ren h:\test2 test
ren h:\testswap test2
