Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
Can anyone here give me these files.
Code:
mfc80.dll
msvcr80.dll
Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest
Microsoft.VC80.MFC.manifest
these files are required by some 3rd party library which my application uses. As Im having VS2008 I dont have these files. I downloaded these files but they are not working, may be some version mismatch. If anyone can zip and attach it here it'll be very useful to me.

You can download VC++ 2005 Runtime from the Microsoft site.

Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
yes. I have vs redist. where from I can get these files after installing. ?.
Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
You don't need to get these files, you just need to install VC++ runtime on every computer where third party library must be loaded.
Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
I want to manually put these files in the current directory of my application instead of installing redist package.
Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
It doesn't work by such way. Microsoft uses crazy side-by-side installation technology (or something like this), you cannot just take their libraries and copy them to your program directory. You can try, maybe you are lucky... Make search for these libraries in the system drive.
There are two ways to install VC++ runtime: redistributable exe file, or VC++ runtime merge module. If you have installation package, add this module to it.

And finally (!) Microsoft reverted back to old applocal XCopy deployment model in Visual C++ 2010 :)
You can still install the redist packages, but XCopy is again an option without the side-by-side manifest hell. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235316.aspx

Good news.
Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
XCopy deployment means copy runtime dlls in applications directory ??
Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
xcopy deployment means: you have some application tree which contains executables, libraries, third-party libraries, data files etc. To install this application on any other computer, just copy the whole tree (xcopy) to any place on this computer. No COM and .NET registration, no Registry operations, no need in installation package.

Exactly, with it you just put the runtime DLLs, MFC DLLs etc in the same folder as your application.

Does this imply that apps deployed that way are "portable", IOW can be executed from a memory stick, for example, without actually installing them on the target system and leave no trace on that system? (Of course this would only work unless the app itself does something that would prevent it.)

Re: Can anyone give me VS2005 runtime files
Take a look at posts #14 and #17 in this thread.
It shows how I have distributed an application that will run on a system using a U3 flash drive, without "installing" the vcredist files.
As you can see, this was posted in 2008, so that method has been available for a long time.
Hope this helps.
