It doesn't matter what VC your app was built with. And it doesn't matter what installer you use.
What does matter is whether your app ready to act as windows service.
The ugly trick called SrvAny is able to run any app in service window station, but it never makes those apps be real (full featured) services. So now, the question is: what is your exact requirement? why do you want it be a service? what do you expect from that being?

Now I understand that the application should be built in such a way so that it can be properly registered as a service. SrvAny helps but it do not results in a pure service.
