sorry, I missunderstand your answer #5.
CreateDragImage creates an imagelist with one item.
I replaced it with a resource bitmap as described in an example on codeproject.com:...

I do not see where there is a description on how to that when there are no images in the CTreeView.

now, I deleted DrawShowNolock from OnMouseMove.
The result: I drag a black rectangle in the size of an item over the screen.
Is this the image CreateDragImage created for me?
February 24th, 2014, 08:59 AM
ok, I did it like described in many examples with:
But no dragimage appears.
Is it because my CListView do no have icons because it is customdraw?

I want to drag an item of a clistctrl in another window.
In all the examples I found the function CreateDragImage is mentioned.
Do I need it?
What do this function?
Do it do something...

because no one had an idea, I tried some things I came to this solution:
overwrite the function PreTranslateMessage in CWinApp.
BOOL CMyApp::PreTranslateMessage(MSG* pMsg)

please help me with a special behaviour of a CEdit-control in a CDialogBar:

I have a problem with creating a process and waiting until the main window of the new process was shown.
I thought I can wait for it with
But when the...

That is my problem: in the small project it works!
ok, now it works also in my big project.
A complete rebuilt makes it!

I meant not the framework, but my mainframe-class.
February 12th, 2014, 02:25 AM
thx you Victor.
OK, it works.
After looking at your project, I also created a new project and added my Dialogbar-class. It also works (SetStatusText is called)!
I think, that means that the...

is it possible that you post your test project?
February 11th, 2014, 12:17 PM
I have win xp und win 7. The test was under win xp.
Now, I set a breakpoint in CFrameWnd::GetMessageString to see the call stack.
I see that my cdialogbar-class is not invoked....
February 11th, 2014, 11:21 AM
I tested it with both: "INT_PTR" and "int".
I tested it with a breakpoint and with the MessageBeep-Sound (see my code) which not appears!

this is the class declaration with the test-function:
it is never called.
class CGleisBar : public CDialogBar
CGleisBar(); // standard constructor
February 11th, 2014, 09:31 AM
yes, and I declared it the same way in my class as I told you before:
BOOL SetStatusText(int n);
Anyway, is there something wrong which I did not see?
February 11th, 2014, 09:04 AM
sorry, in vc6 it is defined like:
virtual BOOL SetStatusText(int nHit);
and it is also not called with
virtual BOOL SetStatusText(INT_PTR nHit);
February 11th, 2014, 08:38 AM
I defined SetStatusText in my Cdialogbar-class.
BUt it is not called.
BOOL SetStatusText(int n);
February 11th, 2014, 06:58 AM
do you have a documentation of this function?
February 11th, 2014, 06:11 AM
yes, I know that.
But the problem is: how do I know who sends the message?
I only do not want to show the MessageStrings from my CDialogbar; all other messages should be shown.

I have the following problem:
my mainframe-window in a MDI-app has a CDialogbar.
Everytime the mouse moves over a control in this dialogbar the status bar is updated by a text.

you are right: "LVS_EX_INFOTIP only works with ICON-style" is only mentioned in an old version of msdn.
I think this limitation do no longer exist.
I do not call OnToolHitTest....
February 7th, 2014, 09:33 AM
I do not get OnToolHitTest to be called. Maybe I should use a derived class.
LVS_EX_INFOTIP only works with ICON-style (msdn). I use small-icons.
