Nope, I have been using Vb6 under XP for over 10 years now and never had an issue
Didi you install the SP6 rollup ? That one is known to have some problems, I have not installed it here just VB6...
hmm, can't say I have saw this before.
Are you by chance running it under windows Vista or later?
If so are you using the run as admin option when starting the IDE?
I just tried this
Private Sub Command1_Click()
MyResult = Shell("c:\project1.exe", vbNormalFocus)
MsgBox "MyResult =" & MyResult

I really have no idea how that would behave but it is most definitely wrong and I would expect an error to be generated by it.
This gives a...

Shell (App.Path & "\hatasalupdate2014.exe"), vbNormalFocus
There should not be any () on that line as you are not getting a return value
If you were to use () then they need to be in a different...

You are trying to use file for 2 different things in the same section of code. You can't do that
Since File is the object you are using for your for each loop you need another var to hold the...

Yes you can use Split() of course in your sample you are using a dash rather than an underscore so that would not work
If you just want to removed the underscores you can use the Replace() method...

If you treat it as a data source then that means the data will be in fields, you just need to loop through your resulting reader and build your html from the data there. Should be pretty simple.

Does this happen when you run from the IDE? If so where does it stop and what message do you get there? Is it in the code posted or is it coming from what you are shelling?
Just as a test I tried...

There is no run time error o
An error number of 0 means no error occurred
March 13th, 2014, 01:38 AM
Why can't you use .split? That would be the obvious choice here
Also why do you say can use Mid() Len() and Instr() all of which are old VB functions rather than VB.Net which would be .Substring ...

what is the error(s)
What lines do they occur on?
Why show all that code that apparently has nothing to do with the error but not show the code that is called from within the problem subs?

I am curious how you are checking to see if the file has changed here or are you just doing that select on every tick?
Have you considered trying to use the file system watcher instead? I haven't...

I found this online http://www.vbaccelerator.com/home/VB/Code/Techniques/RunTime_Debug_Tracing/article.asp
Best bet is to add error handlers and logging info into your app

I wonder if any of the developers who worked on VB6 are still there? It has been a very long time.
I know I would hate to be tasked with revamping a huge project that I did 15 years ago :( That...

Create a array of vowels
If a loop count the number of spaces
In another nested loop count the number of each of the entries in your array
Check the length of the text then subtract the number...

Well that looks like it would populate the array you just need to reference the right element to get the value you are looking for
You just have to use the values entered by the user
March 4th, 2014, 05:09 PM
So what part is giving you trouble? I would think a simple 2d array would do the trick
March 4th, 2014, 12:04 AM
Actually considering how many programmers there are out there and how many wannabees call themselves VB programmers I would say that is a very tiny number.
When I browse Internet forums related to...

Shift+F8 step over- useful to prevent stepping through sub routine calls as needed
You can also set a break point by clicking in the left margin of the...

You should show your code, there is no reason I can think of that the "" would not blank out any data in the text box. If you are still seeing a + or - in there then most likely you have some other...

I would also advise using CStr() rather than the old STR() function
CStr() will not add the leading space that STR() places in there.
Val() is dangerous in many cases, it reads the value left...

Another option would be to test only the eof condition in the do while portion and then use an exit do when icount reaches 5
February 15th, 2014, 11:49 PM
It would help if you showed the code you tried.
in the first case you would just take the percentage of the value
in the next case you would subtract 100000 from the value and then do the...

Well first off you do not update a text file of this sort. You write it, then you overwrite it to make a change, always writing the entire file even if only one line has changed.
I would suggest...
