    Re: Passing a struct to and from a DLL

    I too have been 'charmed', but I certainly respect your opinion and will reconsider how I choose to model my applications.

    Re: Passing a struct to and from a DLL

    [QUOTE]A feeling how cool you are?[/QU0TE]

    There's nothing wrong with being cool. You should try it. :D Seriously, Igor, I find that building code using a wrapper in a DLL forces me to organize...

    Re: Passing a struct to and from a DLL

    Actually, I have planned to have both available since once the DLL is constructed, it is relatively easy to link just to the library. Just take away the TAIP_API stuff and include the taip.h header. ...

    Re: Passing a struct to and from a DLL

    Thank you for your comments. Most helpful. I remain confused on this point. A pointer to a struct is a POD. From that standpoint, it should be OK to use a struct pointer as a parameter to a DLL...

    Passing a struct to and from a DLL

    I have a DLL that uses a struct that is defined in a separate file, misc.h.

    // misc.h
    typedef struct
    {
    wstring wsvarstr;
    wstring wsvarnam;
    TNT::Matrix<double> Mf;
    vector<int> vndim;
  6. Re: How can I free up Codeguru server space to delete old uploads?

    Thanks, Brad
  7. Re: How can I free up Codeguru server space to delete old uploads?

    Done. Thanks.
  8. How can I free up Codeguru server space to delete old uploads?

    I have exceeded my server space allotment and can no longer upload demo apps. What should I do? The Manage Attachments interface is not particularly intuitive.
  9. [RESOLVED] How can I free up Codeguru server space to delete old uploads?

  10. How to link a static library struct to a user app ?

    Using a struct object can be quite useful to combine several different data types into a single package. I have tried to do this utilizing a static library, but have run into problems. The main...
  11. Why is Microsoft pushing Windows 10 so hard?

    I've been running Windows 7 ultimate for several years - doing programming largely in C++ using Visual Studio 2010 and lately 2013. I am largely happy with these. I keep getting popup a dialog to...

    Re: quadruple pointer problem

    Thank you for you most helpful and informative comments. I have long wondered about mixing malloc and new, but have tended never to mix them. Since most of my dll underlying code as well as the...

    Re: quadruple pointer problem

    Thank you, Zerver, for your kind help. Your code works flawlessly as far as I can tell.
    Here's some deallocation code for anyone who is interested.

    quadruple pointer problem

    I wish to use a double **** in order to cross an application to dll boundary using a plain old data type. I have done this successfully with double ** and double *** pointers. However, allocating...
  15. Re: Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call

    Yes. That's it. Thanks.
  16. Re: Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call

    That may be, but the only code I changed was that suggested by Ovi above and that fixed the problem in VS 2013. So far, so good. It was never a problem in VS 2010 which puzzles me.
  17. Re: Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call

    Not certain what code you want. Here's the code that triggers the assertion violation:

    wfstream wf;
    codecvt_utf16<wchar_t, 0x10ffff, little_endian> ccvt(1);
    locale...

    Thank you for your very helpful, clear and informative responses. I think I have a much better understanding of the problem now.

    Re: 3d vector

    How would one code such a triple indexing operator? If I knew how to do that, I could figure out how to produce a 3D (or any d) vector from the above approach.
  20. Re: Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call

    Thank you Ovi. Your solution gets rid of my problem. But I don't understand what calling a pure virtual function has to do with the locale facet reference counter. Also, why does the same code run...
  21. Re: Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call

    Thanks for your response, Victor. I've looked at those links but don't find them helpful. They simply restate the obvious - you have called a pure virtual function so find it and fix it. But why...
  22. Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call

    Many of the MFC apps that I developed in VS 2010, when I port them to VS 2013 (Community), they will often compile without error but generate this runtime error:

    Now all of these compile and...

    Re: 3d vector

    This is a more interesting question than it first appears to be. Below I have used 2 classes, the second of which is a 3 dimensional vector. Notice that both methods work, however, the second...

    Re: Switch from txt to rtf during runtime

    Here's how to implement loading of either text or rtf files using CRichEditView and CRichEditDoc:

    Set in the document class ctor: m_bRTF = TRUE; (default) to implement rtf serialization

    Re: 3d vector

    I've used this in some 3D graphics implementations:

    class CPoint3D
    {
    public:
    float x, y, z;
    CPoint3D () { x=y=z=0; }
    CPoint3D (float c1, float c2, float c3)
