    Re: Some Simple Questions and Suggestions

    You're not actually taking user input when asking the questions. I would assume you're supposed to ask the question and get the answer from the user, not output hardcoded responses.

    Re: Installing FLTK on VS 2013

    That tells you the linker can't find the implementation of Fl_Image::color_average. Is there a .lib file you need to add to your project?
  3. Re: How to Enable/Disable Menu Item 2 in OnUpdate Handler of Menu Item 1?

    Did you try it? When you call menu1 again, m_bShowFeatures will be set to the opposite value, and menu 2 will be enabled again. Menu item 2 is grayed out or not based on the value of...
  4. Re: How to Enable/Disable Menu Item 2 in OnUpdate Handler of Menu Item 1?

    Wouldn't this do what you want?

    void CDummyView::OnMenuItem1()
    {
    m_bShowFeatures = !m_bShowFeatures;
    m_pDoc->UpdateAllViews(NULL, SHOW_HIDE_ALL_FEATURES);
    }

    void...
  5. Re: How to Enable/Disable Menu Item 2 in OnUpdate Handler of Menu Item 1?

    If your message map, you'll have an entry like this

    ON_UPDATE_COMMAND_UI(IDM_MENU1, OnUpdateMenu1)

    Add another entry like this

    ON_UPDATE_COMMAND_UI(IDM_MENU2, OnUpdateMenu1)
  6. Re: How to Enable/Disable Menu Item 2 in OnUpdate Handler of Menu Item 1?

    Have you tried any of the suggestions offered so far?
  7. Re: How to Enable/Disable Menu Item 2 in OnUpdate Handler of Menu Item 1?

    I'm pretty sure you can just use the same function name in your message map for each menu item - in case your menu IDs aren't consecutive.
  8. Re: How to Enable/Disable Menu Item 2 in OnUpdate Handler of Menu Item 1?

    Or just set a state variable that both update handlers can look at.

    I could be wrong, but I believe you can use the same handler function for more than one menu item.

    Re: Issues while programming in notepad ++

    Doesn't make much sense to post in a C++ forum just because it's similar to to C#. The C# forum is the appropriate place.

    Please use code tags to preserve formatting.

    The debugger shows you...
  10. Re: beginner in c++ help needed, thanks

    First, please use Code tags to preserve formatting.

    Second thing would be to learn about "scope". row, col and val declared in get_input are not the same row, val and col in test_input. You...

    Re: Linked List

    What he meant was that C++ already gives you a list that you can use.

    Re: Linked List

    No. A linked list is a collection of nodes, which are usually structs or objects that contain data and pointers to other nodes. Each node points to the node that follows it, and usually also points...

    Re: Linked List

    You should write a destructor for your Pointers class, but I'd focus on understanding how lists work first.

    Re: Linked List

    That's not how linked lists work though. If you want a position based container, use an array or vector. Why are you trying to specify a position? If you really wanted to inert an element at the...

    Re: Beginner Visual C++ Application Question

    I didn't say it was suitable for all windows applications, but I don't think it's going to add complexity to any apps that I can think of and in almost all cases you're going to end up writing less...

    We use this engine, but its API is fairly complicated too. http://rerecognition.com/ I've never used tesseract, but there should be samples out there. OCR engines work well if there's no other...

    Re: Beginner Visual C++ Application Question

    Is it really that hard to use real words? I'm not sure how that helps him learn forms.

    To the OP, yes Visual Studio 2012 is a fine development environment.

    C++ is a language.

    Re: [help] game dev

    I really don't think you can learn C++ from web sites. That's a bit like going to medical school online. There's just too much you need to know. I'd get a really good book and work through that. ...

    Looks like when you undeleted it it put a non-printable character in there. Open the file using the VS binary editor and remove it.

    Re: How to understand this simple piece of code?
