    Re: Word break in a richedit box

    I've fixed the link, please try it again.
    How do you place that line into the second box?
    Please note that Visual Studio writes 0xCD bytes into uninitialized memory - could it be that you are...

    Re: Word break in a richedit box

    According to https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/z0z83tcz.aspx
    " nMaxLength

    Re: Read and write (C + WinAPI)

    1. If you read the whole file into a buffer, why do you write it 200 bytes at a time, in a loop? Couldn't you just write the entire buffer at once?
    2. Do you really need to keep entire file in...

    Re: passing std::string to PUCHAR?

    Is somefunc() going to modify pbInput?
    If not - declare the parameter const.
    If yes - you can't pass std::string anyway.

  6. Re: To erase an element from a std::list. The code doesn't work

    Your
    it = global_q.erase(it);
    might erase the last element, then the loop statement tries to increment it again.
    Anyway, the loop is skipping over one element after each erase().
    See this for...

    Re: MFC application Crashing

    From all versions of Visual Studio (2008, 2010, 2012) that I have installed, only 2010 has an assert on that line 225:

    void CRecentFileList::Add(LPCTSTR lpszPathName, LPCTSTR lpszAppID)
    {
    if...
  8. Re: Help with reading chunks of memory externally

    1. Is this your exact code? The loop body will not execute even once, as 0xFFFFFFF is greater than 0x40000.

    2. Not every byte between 0x40000 and 0xFFFFFFF is mapped into the address space. You...

    Re: Hide Child Window after EndPaint(&ps)

    Wouldn't that hiding of the child window cause another WM_PAINT to the parent (for the uncovered area)?

    What are you REALLY trying to achieve?

  11. Re: Not able to put the watch on the c++ map element

    Isn't CDiaCfg::m_mCfgId2Cfg[80].m_sCfg a *pointer* to CDiaCfg?
    Shouldn't it be
    CDiaCfg::m_mCfgId2Cfg[80].m_sCfg->m_Apps
  12. Re: help with reading a file into different arrays

    You fill TWO arrays, but use only ONE counter. Is that by design?

    Re: Finding a total using for loops

    Apparently, you accumulate scaled down number (for display purposes?); see:

    spec[i] = mic / 100;

    I would calculate the total in the first loop, right after reading mic.
  15. Re: does memory need to be released for dynamic controls

    Yes
    No
    How do you create that dialog? Is it modal or modeless?
    You can release all allocated memory in the dialog's destructor, or, if you keep a dialog object around (and still need to release...

    Re: Integer Range

    As I understand it, you only need to use these suffixes if the value may get misinterpreted.
    Here, the long long value is assigned to long long variable; works for me without the suffix.

    Re: Stuck on "else if" exercise

    Don't know how your code looks now, but this appears to be wrong:

    ship = num *.40;

    Re: Integer Range

    As Victor noted, "Some code snippet would also help"
    HOW do you assign that value to that variable?

    P.S. Here is a short demo - can you see the difference?

    long long ll_1 = 5000000000;
    long...

    If you explain why do you need to hack Odesk.exe and what are you trying to achieve, someone may have a better suggestion on how to do that.

  23. Re: How to make a std::map return null when there is nothing "at" a certain position?

    This, of course, is true. But we don't know what OP requirements are.
    Also, my suggestion will ONLY work (as laserlight noted) if the value 0 works for missing keys. Luckily, that's what lucky...
  24. Re: How to make a std::map return null when there is nothing "at" a certain position?

  25. Re: Code runs 2x faster on windows than on linux

    Is it OK if I will answer?
    There is only one loop, and there is no unrolling.
