Thanks for the advice. My problem is now resolved. I know ADO 2.0 is old. I am using VB 6.0 on a laptop with Win98. The project is a small one for a friend and will not grow into a large scale...

Thanks JG. I solved the problem using your suggestion. I got rid of the data control and accomplished the task in code.
