    Re: C# textChanged problem

    It doesn't look like you are setting txtConsole anywhere. From what I can tell, you set it the first time which causes the text change event to fire, but I don't see where you set the txtConsole...

    Re: Array elements all being set to same value

    Another approach is to use LINQ (non-tested code snippet):

    First, write a converter from a port object to a map marker object.

    private static MapMarker ToMapMarker(Port port)
    {
    return new...

    Re: Array elements all being set to same value

    In general, avoid using raw arrays. Instead, prefer using a generic collection.

    var mapMarkers = new List<MapMarker>();
    foreach (var p in ports)
    {
    var mapMarker = new MapMarker{
    ...
  4. Re: Access a username/password protected url through C++

    You don't need to be concerned about dlls that get installed on Windows by default. The dlls needed for WinInet come installed on Win2000 and higher.

    Re: Need help on a simple split string issue

    The first thing to do is to learn to use the debugger, then the answer would be pretty obvious. At any rate, words[0] gives you the first word in the array after the s.Split('_') call.

    Okay, back...
  6. Re: Trying to get a foreach loop working with CSV file

    Or...

    int column = 1;
    int row =0;
    while (row < csv.NumRows)
    {
    var thisCellItem = csv.GetCell(row,column)
    listBox1.Items.Add(thisCellItem);
  7. Re: Implicit Conversion Operators and Value Types

    Define 'Bad'.

    To me, it's in the context of what I'm doing. For the work that I've done so far, implicit conversions have never been an issue.

    If I experienced a performance issue, I would...
  8. Re: Help me create database schema (just a few sentences scenario)

    The first thing to do is to pull together a list of use cases to determine how the user is going to use the system.

    The use cases typically include the data the user wants to see.

    From that...

    Re: WMI Get() fail

    That's the way to go. Who wants to remember that stuff anyway? :)
  10. Re: Help me create database schema (just a few sentences scenario)

    You find out what is missing by adding some data and see if you can pull the data back out in the manner you expect.

    Re: Visual Studio 2012 not running

    Right click on the project in the solution explorer and click "Set as startup Project".
  12. Re: Access a username/password protected url through C++

    Perhaps, but on Windows due to security, that's what you may need to do.

    Re: Having trouble tallying items in data base

    What output do you get?
  15. Re: Access a username/password protected url through C++

    What you need to do is supply an interface that gets accessed over the interface.

    Users would pass username/password information to the interface and internally it would perform the authentication...

    Re: Finite State Machines for search and attack

  17. Re: 4 novice questions: floor function, square root, filling arrays, removing element

    The first 4 questions look like homework questions, so I can't be much help. For the last question, the black window is the console window. When your program is running, you can click in the upper...

    Re: .NET Framework Question

    If you are running an app internally, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to have a specific version of .Net pushed to the target machines.

    Re: WMI Get() fail

    Because WMI relies on 3rd party companies to develop the WMI providers there are some peculiarities when retrieving data from WMI.

    One of these is that a property isn't necessarily guaranteed to...

    Re: .NET Framework Question

    You can target your app to use .Net 2.0, but...

    That really limits you to only using the older 2.0 features.

    I also wouldn't create multiple versions of my app that run on different .Net...

    Re: how to create text box in message box

    Imo, rather than trying to modify the existing MessageBox class, you are better off starting by creating your own form.

    To make the form easier to use, I would create a static factory method for...

    Re: debugging char** variable

  23. Re: Extension DLL callback function used for a Windows service and write to file

    You need to check for errors and log them (try logging them to the event viewer). Lastly, you aren't going to see any MessageBox popups with a service by default - with services you need to use a...
  24. Re: Extension DLL callback function used for a Windows service and write to file

  25. Re: What is single-user mode/multiple-user mode of an application?

    Twitter has an easier problem vs. the problem where multiple users want to change the same field of a record. With twitter, the same hash tag gets updated, but this only adds a new list entry to the...
