I have heard that VS2013 crashes in some conditions where as vs2010 is stable .

Pl use debugger and I am sure you will be able to solve the errors.
Check the functions by single step inside.
e.g. function sizeofArray ... what it should return ? where is cin for size ?

hi .. u can start with win32 console application .. u can try simple programs using cin and cout ..
