    Re: First Chance Exception CString

    Alright, well then use the _T macro anyway just to be sure, and rewrite the code a bit to rule out the possiblilty of corruption...

    CString test = dadir;
    test += _T("\\*.csv");
    thepath = test;

    Re: First Chance Exception CString

    I'm not very experienced with unicode, but IIRC you have to prefix the string constants with "L".

    thepath = dadir + L"\\*.csv";
    Does it make any difference?

    Re: A custom pyramid-drawing program

    Like kaud said, you need to devise the mathematical formulas that calculate the number of stars and blanks for any given row number.

    When you have done that, it will be easy to deploy a few loops...

    Re: Making an octagon out of right triangles

    You don't need 16 triangles if it is okay to overlap them. Use two triangles to make a rectangle that touches two opposite sides of the octaton.
    Make another such rectangle rotated 45 degrees to...
  5. Re: Two ChlidFrames in one MDI application?Is it a good solution?

    If the "big" view will always be visible, then I suggest instead to make a dockable panel, similar to what you find in many apps such as Visual Studio.
  6. Re: Book recommendation for win32 multi-thread programming

    Good points, but here I cannot agree. A lock held for a long time may indicate a design flaw. These typical producer/consumer scenarios where one of the parties cannot work because the other holds a...
  7. Re: Book recommendation for win32 multi-thread programming

    Lock-free is the ideal, but hard to realize in practice. What you want is a solution that very rarely locks, and when it does, the locks are held for just a few instruction cycles. Also, you'd maybe...
  8. Re: Why certain projects always roll their own data structures/utility classes?

    Also there may be performance reasons. std is fast, but not in every case.

    Re: how do i set the focus after an alt+tab?

    I was going to say the same: if your view loses focus when you alt-tab twice there is probably something wrong with the rest of your code.

    Basically, the app should come back up without any focus...

    Re: Ideas to tell HDD apart from SSD?

    One more typical characteristic of SSD is that erasing the disk (by overwriting it with zeroes) will be hundreds of times faster than if you would write random data.
    The reason, IIRC, is that the...

    Re: Ideas to tell HDD apart from SSD?

    I think getting a 100% working method will be either impossible, or would require such lengthy diagnostics that anyone using the program would ragequit.

    * Some drives are actually hybrid drivers...
  13. Re: Capture sounds from soundcard=speakers - NOT from microphone

    Writing a sound driver... I don't think you should reinvent the wheel...

    Maybe have a look here: http://www.portaudio.com/
  14. Re: Capture sounds from soundcard=speakers - NOT from microphone

    Hi!

    You should be able to use the recording API pretty straight off, but the device must also support so called "Stereo Mix", which you can read about here:...

    Re: FLTK, creating a rounded box

    Yes, what I mean is that you should look at how the Polygon class is designed, and then make your own class, very similar to the Polygon class, but of course using fl_arc.

    Re: FLTK, creating a rounded box

    Have a look here: http://www.stroustrup.com/Programming/12_display.ppt

    Apparently there is a "Polygon" class in FLTK. Take a look at the source code of the Polygon class, and try to design your...

    Re: Help In Last Question please

    Study the following topics, and you will be able to solve the exercise:

    * Text input/output using cin/cout.
    * class/struct for storing the data of each object
    * containers (such as std::vector)...
  20. Re: Is it possible to retrieve Window Proc in process running in other user?

    I think you are simply passing the wrong HWND to GetWindowLong(..., GWL_WNDPROC).

    Inside the hook DLL, please use FindWindow(NULL, window title) to get the correct HWND.

    If still problems after...
  21. Re: Is it possible to retrieve Window Proc in process running in other user?

    In a situation like this, I would try hooking the application. If it succeeds, you should have unrestricted access.

    Have a look at SetWindowsHookEx(WH_CALLWNDPROC, ...). Inside the hook DLL, call...

    Re: Number of hardware processors (cores)

    IIRC, if you want a solution that works on as many versions of windows as possible, you have to resort to assembly hacks. I may have some example code if you are interested.

    Re: looking for source crypter

    Many legit programs can be detected by AV heuristics, so I don't think any moderation is necessary in this case.

    Re: looking for source crypter

    :) I don't assume anything, but the way the question was asked makes me think there is not a senior software dev at the other end.

    However, I did have some early suspicions that he was a spammer,...
