    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    Speaking as someone who has taken the time to learn it, it won't work that way. It's too complicated and very often not intuitive at all. There's an expression that you have to take time to sharpen...

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    Start by learning how to fix basic compler errors. Nobody here write code the compiles error free the first time every time. Otherwise what are you going to do? Expecting us to set up and compile...

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    As you're discovering, C++ isn't something you'll learn by osmosis. You should entrench yourself in a book to at least get the grasp of the basic concepts. It's one of the more complex languages...

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    Everyone answering you here is experienced enough to compile your project. The real issue is you're not experienced enough to fix really, really basic errors. Downloading, setting up and compiling...

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    You're right. My mistake. void makes more sense than returning anything.

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    There wouldn't be any point in that function if it didn't return anything.

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    Do you have any C or C++ programming experience?

    I'm guessing it wants you to return iradius, but it's a guess.

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    Not sure how much more clear Vector::NormalizeInPlace doesn't return a value could be. As pointed out, look at that function. Look at its return statements and make sure they all return what...

    Re: Need help on errors (compilation issues)

    I didn't look at your code, but most of them look pretty self-explanatory. You're passing an int variable to a function expecting a float.

    Re: Learning MySQL by C++

    Not sure what you mean by learn SQL by C++. C++ is a programming language. SQL is a database language. They don't have much to do with each other. Since you asked in a Visual C++ forum, one way...
  13. Re: Standard C++98 Banking System example with OOPS

    Which line gives the error?

    You should read up on virtual functions and only override the functions you that have different behavior in the derived class than the base class.

    Re: Classes

    There's not much more to say. You've derived D from B as in
    class D : public B
    which means D is derived from B. Your assignment doesn't say to do that. All you need is
    class D

    Re: Classes

    FWIW, you assignment doesn't say anything about deriving D from B.
  16. Re: pass variable value from one dialogbox to other/ one class to other class in vc++

    No telling what's wrong from that description. Time to use your debugger to find out. It should be taking you to the error when it occurs.

  18. Re: How to Avoid retry,ignor,abort type error/Exception in vc++ 6.0

    Press retry to get taken to the cod that's triggered the ASSERT. Use the debugger to find out what's wrong and fix it.
  19. Re: pass variable value from one dialogbox to other/ one class to other class in vc++

    There's nothing magic about dialog boxes. You pass variables around the same way you do with any other objects. You can write set and get methods or if it's public, just set the member directly.

    Re: Access database with MFC, vc++ 6.0

    Look at the CRecordset class. It does almost all of the work for you.
  21. Re: Standard C++98 Banking System example with OOPS

    That's just random code you found on the internet. It has nothing to do with any kind of banking system. You seem to be missing the point that you're going to actually have to put in some effort to...
  22. Re: Standard C++98 Banking System example with OOPS

    When writing code, it's much better to write and debug small pieces of it one at a time than trying to write the entire project at once. Post what you have that doesn't work and we'll help.
  23. Re: Standard C++98 Banking System example with OOPS

    That's a really vague specification. You should design your system and then look for examples of the principles of your design. The first step is to figure out the basic structure of your app...
  24. Re: C++ Console Even/Odd Control Without %,/,+ and -

    Seems pretty obvious.

    Happy new year to you too.:)
  25. Re: C++ Console Even/Odd Control Without %,/,+ and -

    He shouldn't. Typically we provide guidance, rather than actually doing somebody's homework for them.
