    Re: make container of exe's using tabs

    I could be wrong, I don't think that's possible. OLE can let you embed apps, but they have to be designed to allow it.

    Re: Rock/Paper/Scissors

    Why did you move srand back into a loop? Only call it once at the beginning of your program.

    Re: Stuck on "else if" exercise

    You're outputting the total before you calculate it, but you have other issues as I've already pointed out.

    Re: Stuck on "else if" exercise

    Which if those conditions will get executed if the weight is exactly 2.0, 4.0 or 6.0?

    A more typical structure would be

    if(pound < 2.0)
    {
    ...
    }
    else if(pound < 4.0)
    {
  6. Re: Upon checking the emptiness of an array, I'm getting an unexpected result

    Not really enough to go on there. Does the if(pool.empty()) code get executed too?

    What does the debugger show you?

    Re: #define not working with my input

    Possibly that compiler has something else already defined as PI. Try calling it something else. The exact error message would help.

    Once I changed the >> to << it compiled cleanly for me using VS 2012.

    Re: #define not working with my input

    Your #define is working fine. You have a little issue here though

    cout << "The area of a circle is" <<PI>> "* radius * radius"<<endl;
  11. Re: Operator overloading and mysterious object dereferencing?

    Your debugger should show you everything that's going on. Did you try it?

    Re: Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong

    You haven't implemented bsheight, which makes it a bit hard to tell you what to do to fix it. You seem to be using strings and ints interchangeably, which you can't do. If you want to work with...

    Re: Program to modify an excel file

    It's been a long time since I did it, but you can use ODBC to update an Excel spreadsheet. If you're using MFC, look at the CRecordset class. If the spreadsheet is already open in Excel, you can...

    Re: Program to modify an excel file

    Can you be more specific about what you mean by "export those values into an excel file that has already been created".

    Re: SetCursorPos slowness

    Can't you just set the y value in point. I don't think you need to call SetCursorPos? I could be wrong, but I think the only code you need is
    point.y = m_point.y;

    Just make your change before...

    Re: Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong

    I guess telling us the line is too much to ask?

    Anyway, the first of many errors I get is on this line
    p->height = d + 1;
    where you're trying to add a number to a string.

    Re: Payroll system....

    What kind of university doesn't give homework? Homework questions are pretty easy to recognize.

    Anyway, if you want help, as 2kaud suggested post your code and say where you're stuck. As it is,...

    Re: Random number/array/histogram

    People will respond and help much more readily if you use code tags and formatted code. What you posted it very hard to read.

    Re: .xml to .txt

    This should take no more than a few hours to do. You should probably stop hanging around here and get it done. Parsing it as a single line would be trivial.

    Re: Stack overflow on function call

    You dragged up a 7 year old thread to incorrectly tell me I was wrong and use an angry smiliey? Nice. Look at post number 2, item number 2 and several others mentioning the size of local variables...

    Re: .xml to .txt

    No. You'd have to parse it anyway to determine where to put the line breaks. If you're doing that you may as well just parse out the data you want.
