You can avoid these types of errors by doing what Victor suggested and check the return codes for the api's you call.
And by checking the return codes, I mean really check the return codes.

Is this a marketing post for accessesiblesoft or do you really believe that the latest vb has all those problems?

Unfortunately that isn't a method (as methods need to return either void or a value). It's more like a constructor, but you can't have a non static constructor inside a static class.

Another way around the 'problem' is to take a different approach and not have the checkbox in its own column. Having it in its own column would allow you to sort on it independently vs if it shared...

You have to assign it to the textbox while the pair object is still in scope.
A quick and dirty way would to set the textbox value where the code makes the Console.WriteLine call.

It seems like it is very hardware dependent as the fan on my HP laptop rarely kicks in - even when compiling.
At any rate, I'm not sure this is the kind of thing users would know or care about.

Out of curiosity, why does it matter what the cpu does if it can execute your low priority threads? Also what are you doinf in these threads to put the cpu at 100%?

Stil, the width of the first column may be changed (giving the appearance of a centered checkbox). Of course we won't know until someone tries it.

Try setting the first column width to something other than the default width to 'center' the checkbox.

What do you mean by this? Win32 api covers a lot of ground - even limiting it to hardware. It might be a bit daunting to expose everything.

Interestingly enough, the tiobe index is determined based on the number of internet search hits - so having a high ranking may not necessarily be a good thing.
