    Re: minimize an Excel window using c++

    Probably, you got anoter window handle. Just use Spy++ to see if that's true.
    And/or try this:

    HWND hWnd = ::FindWindow(_T("XLMAIN"), NULL);
    if(NULL != hWnd)
    {
    if(!...

  5. Re: How to get a list of applied Group Policy Objects?

    ...or can make a copy, then change the extesnion to .XML and open it in a browser (e.g. IE).

    AFAIK, AdmX.exe, shipped with Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools, is an old parser for .ADM...
  6. Re: How to get a list of applied Group Policy Objects?

    It returns a list of GPOs but not a list of GPO settings as the OP shows in the picture.

    Everything may become "well explained" after digging a little bit. :)
    Programmatically deal with GPO...
  7. Re: How to get a list of applied Group Policy Objects?

    Just a hint: use IGroupPolicyObject interface.

    Re: Open a dialog from DLL

    No need much imagination to look at (the only one) exported function GetRuntimeClass as at an "interface", as well. :)

    Re: Open a dialog from DLL

    Another method I used, is to explicitely export GetRuntimeClass method added by DECLARE_DYNCREATE/IMPLEMENT_DYNCREATE in the dialog class.

    Example

    Re: CSliderCtrl::SetPos() Problem

    To change the current slider thumb position, call CSliderCtrl::SetPos or send TBM_SETPOS message (CSliderCtrl::SetPos sends this message itself).

    TRBN_THUMBPOSCHANGING and NM_RELEASEDCAPTURE are...
  15. Re: Control for owner-drawing items with 1 or 2 columns ?

    A custom-draw control is a good choice as long as we don't try to change too much its behavior and appearance.
    Otherwise, making a custom or ActiveX control from scratch may be a better option.
  16. Re: Control for owner-drawing items with 1 or 2 columns ?

    For sure I can. :)

    It's not very clear for me what that means, just I can say that you can easily arrange the items yourself, in a more flexible manner.

    Example

    void...
  17. Re: Control for owner-drawing items with 1 or 2 columns ?

    What means "the whole grid"?
    What means "a device context only for a part of the grid"?
    Why do you want to "draw your whole grid" in CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT stage, as long as it is designed for...

  19. Re: Communication between two programs via registry?

    It is possible with RegNotifyChangeKeyValue.
    But of course, that's not so easy as the OP is expecting. Or in other words, is like scraping own head with the foot. :)
    So this case we can say, using...
  20. Re: Communication between two programs via registry?

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\"Software"\RegistryKey\ProfileName\SectionName
    where RegistryKey is...
  21. Re: [win32] - how add a persistence image to control?

    Pay attention to LoadImage dcumentation;
    focus on lpszName parameter;
    discover what MAKEINTRESOURCE macro does;
    do not ignore the rest;
    repeat 1 to 4 until everything is clear.

  24. Re: Saving unicode strings to .txt files ..

    I found this issue has been resolved in VS2012.
    CFile::OpenFlags enum contains a new value, typeUnicode. So, to save unicode, you can do the following:

    // ...
    UINT nOpenFlags =...
  25. Re: how to use CListCtrl for show multiple DialogBoxs like items in icon view?(Thumbn

    As already said before in this thread, a common Windows listview control (SysListView32, kept by CListCtrl or CListView MFC classes) is NOT designed to keep dialogs.
    Although at last everything is...
