    Re: Freeglut in VS2010

    A long time ago I used glut with Mui (a micro user interface that came with glut).

    I just gave values to those variables. Something like:

    int argc = 1;
    char * argv[] = { "your_exe_name"...
  2. Re: compile with terminal from MyProject folder

    It depends on where you execute the executable from (and maybe even if you execute from an IDE or not).

    If you execute from the terminal in the MyProject folder it would probably be:

    ...
  3. Re: compile with terminal from MyProject folder

    You missed typed the name in the header folder:

    Funcitions.h
  4. Re: compile with terminal from MyProject folder

    from the MyProject folder, can you do the following command and copy/paste the output ?

    ls -alR
  5. Re: compile with terminal from MyProject folder

    -Iheader

    Are you getting the same errors ? What operating system are you using ? On Linux systems, filenames are case sensitive.
  6. Re: compile with terminal from MyProject folder

    You need to specify where the headers are located (looking at the help for gcc would show this):

    g++ -Wall -o myproject -Iheader source_files/functions_cpp.cpp source_files/main.cpp
  7. Re: A question from the book "More effective C++".

    1) Maybe try to change the dynamic allocation to: D pD[6];

    2) see the following code. For simplicity, I made B's member variable public and added a variable to D to make it unlikely that...

    Re: Working with fractions

    You have:

    numerator = (numerator / GCD());
    denominator = (denominator / GCD());

    the first line changes the value of numerator which is used by GDC(). So the call to GCD() in the second...

    Re: Best C++ GUI Library/IDE

    I use both the Microsoft's IDE and MFC (with Visual C++) and QT Designer (with Visual C++)

    I like them both.

    For Qt, you can bring up QT Designer, click on the "Welcome Tab" and then on the...
  10. Re: Difficulty in Copy Assignment in C++

    I think that will fail when doing self assignment ( a = a )
  11. Re: Difficulty in Copy Assignment in C++

    It is an error in the book. Here is a link to the errata for the first printing:

  12. Re: Need help allocatig memory for vectorized 2D array

    Just a small point:

    return data[y*xdim+x];

    I believe that is the FORTRAN ordering.
  13. Re: Need help allocatig memory for vectorized 2D array

    The comment in your code mentioned opengl. So pretty much any function that take data with more than one dimension.

    Some examples:

    1) gluBuild2DMipmaps

    2) The ctrlpoints data in the...
  14. Re: Need help allocatig memory for vectorized 2D array

    You have :

    vv2d[0].resize(3); // each set will contain 3 members

    only the first set is resized. Either explicitly resize both vv2d[0] and vv2d[1] or

    Re: [RESOLVED] Going through gates

    For those values, it looks like that is optimal. But in the general case, it looks like that algorithm is not necessarily optimal. For an example, see:

    Are you sure that you copied that function correctly ?

    Re: std::find_if problem

    In less I am missing something, none of them should compile. The third parameter to find_if() is wrong in all cases. It should be a predicate.

    1) You have sets with pointers as elements. That...

    Re: [RESOLVED] map iterators

    Could you explain this further ?

    Are you saying:

    SomeMapType m1,m2;

    if (m1.end() == m2.end()) // this is possible

    Re: map iterators

    I don't think there is a real nice method.

    1) Before reading your "please" comment, I was going to suggest optns.end() [ set after the clear() ]

    2) use a separate bool variable

    3) and...
  20. Re: Copying one bmp file to another using fstream, Access violation reading location

    Something to check:

    ofs_differential.write((char*)&bfh_warm, sizeof(bfh_warm) ); //write header

    What is sizeof(bfh_warm) ? Is it 14, or 16 ?

    Visual C++ has bitmap header structures...
  21. Re: sort vector of objects on member variable

    The bigger function that you supplied will not compile with the sort for result_holder.

    monarch_dodra supplied an example to sort int variables. You would need to change it for variables of type...
  22. Re: sort vector of objects on member variable

    You have:

    bool operator < (const result_holder& lhs, const result_holder& rhs)
    {
    return lhs.row_value > rhs.row_value;
    }

    Re: How to do clone in vc++?

    It depends on the object. You need to provide more information .

    1) You might not to add any additional code to a class to copy an object.

    2) You might need to add copy semantics to your...
  24. Re: sort vector of objects on member variable

    If you make operator < a member function, it should only take one argument and be const:

    bool operator < (const result_holder& rhs) const
    {
    return row_value < rhs.row_value;
    }

    Re: index position in array Issue

    You have:

    for (int q=0; q=size2;q++)

    This sets q = size2 every time thru the loop (and the loop never terminates)
