  1. Re: Auto-close MSG box - Without Button and Title

Just create a test program with a regular dialog box and mess with the styles until you get it right. Then make the changes to your program.

To find which styles, do a search in bing or google...
  2. Re: The orders after 12 am to 7 am not show timer problem

Instead of DATEDIFF use something else like calculating the start and end date times and use between.

Debug this using a sql query before trying this in your C# code.
  3. Re: Auto-close MSG box - Without Button and Title

Sure, modify the code to remove the title style and hide the buttons.
  4. Re: The orders after 12 am to 7 am not show timer problem

Are there any orders between 12am and 7am in the database?

Does the following where clause properly span the two days? WHERE DATEDIFF(d,dbo.[Jeddah-Live$Sales Line].[Shipment Date],GETDATE()) = 0

    Re: Thread/Core affinity

The Windows task scheduler attempts to evenly distribute the load across cores/processors and the algorithm that does this changes from version to version.

I generally try to avoid setting the...
  7. Re: Enter button creates sound when opening messagebox

If we go by the naming convention, txtResult_KeyDown() isn't a button click event, it's a text change event for a textbox. If you need to handle a button click, then setup an OnClick handler.

Re: Find n words given m threads

Larry, you've been doing multi-threaded programming for a while - how would you approach this problem? Where would you start?
  9. Re: Please help me understand optimistic locking and Pessimistic locking

Rather than posting such an open ended question, why don't you post specific questions on what you don't understand?

    Re: Simultaneous Serializing and Deserializing

Right, I wasn't attempting to solve all the world's problems - just addressing the non-synchronized file case (where the op mentioned the .txt file).

Re: Variables declared in Windows loop

One good lesson is to avoid over-optimizing code. In this case, you will be hard pressed to find any performance difference between local variables and using globals.

    Actually, I don't know if...

    Re: Simultaneous Serializing and Deserializing

If you don't synchronize access to the file and it works, it's because you are getting lucky.

Re: Variables declared in Windows loop

Unfortunately devs tend to bring their bad habits with them when going from small programs to large program (or when small program evolve into large programs). Best to avoid them altogether.

  18. Re: win32: how detect if the Joystick is connected to pc?

I guess I'll have to take your word for it since you aren't posting how you are calling the functions.
  19. Re: win32: how detect if the Joystick is connected to pc?

Did you notice the reference to joyGetPos[ex] apis? The link I posted tells you what to do to determine if a joystick is present.

Further reading indicates to use the joyGetPosEx function for...

Re: Multiple rows in one textbox

It's a bit hard to figure out what you've done wrong without seeing your code.
  21. Re: win32: how detect if the Joystick is connected to pc?

I'd recommend that you read the msdn documentation. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd797987(v=vs.85).aspx

It tells you to use the joyGetNumDevs() api to determine if...

Re: WinAPI Timers vs Sleep() accuracy

Nothing is guaranteed. Timer messages, when a thread wakes up and so on in Windows is dependent on what is running on the system.

Anything with a higher priority that runs can impede the...

How did you determine that FileInfo doesn't exist? Do you get a compile error or a runtime error? At any rate, msdn has the info on when a class/method has been in .net (including what assembly to...

Re: WinAPI Timers vs Sleep() accuracy

Another option is to create a worker thread. Inside the thread use a loop and a WaitForSingleObject to wake up periodically (like a 1 second interval). Each time you wake up, check the system time...
