    Re: MDF Create User

    I'm guessing I want to use compact edition (SDF) rather than MDF...

    I am having an issue with the table layout panel.

  9. Re: SerialPort, threads and Class Library project

    You should not do what you are attempting to do... simple as that.

    Most of the time, your communication classes will be doing something useful and not dependent on user interface... I like to...

    Invoke

    Executes the specified delegate on the thread that owns the control's underlying window handle.

    BeginInvoke

    Executes a delegate asynchronously on the thread that the control's...
  11. Re: SerialPort, threads and Class Library project

    It is basically just a generic void delegate.

    Visual Studio 2008 added delegate Action and delegate template Action<T> to System.

    In Visual Studio 2005, you can do the same thing by adding the...
  12. Re: SerialPort, threads and Class Library project

    For your textbox access, you could simply make a function to wrap the textbox which takes care of invoking onto the UI thread if required.

    private void m_WriteToTextBox(string sResponse)
    {

    Re: Preview Key in User Control

    Yes, but you can't prevent the child controls from seeing the input at all.
    Events would happen in parallel.

    The link above did exactly what I was looking for.

    What does your pictureBox paint handler look like?

    I can capture any text input based on the internal state and only send to the active control if not handled.

    I want to make a "view only" rich text box.

    fyi:

    I am deriving a new class from RichTextBox
    I've set the ReadOnly property to true.

    Is there a way to prevent selection of items?

    Re: How to write extensions for software?

    In general, a pluggable component would conform to a interface defined by the host app.

    i.e.
