  1. Re: Trying to get value from one form to populate in another form

    I know its a little overkill, but you could alternatively create a class with variables and store the data in that class. It would then be usable in other areas of the program. Yes i know its beyond...

    Re: opening a tab by code

    Assuming default names the button code would look like:

    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
    tabControl1.SelectedTab = tabPage1;
    }
  3. Re: how to store image, music and video files in database

    Just a thought, but alternatively you can store the data elsewhere and just store the path to the data in the DB. Not sure what your application is but thought it worth mentioning. I've had horrible...

    Re: Game logged in

    This is not a helpful post but from what I can tell, you will want to set each client side software to set an "im alive" variable every x time on the server. Think sending a small packet of info.

    Re: Beginning C#

    You need to read up on the KeyPress event handler. I would also recommend you look at Regex as it is REALLY helpful later on, its very simple to get used to and also you can print a "cheat sheet"...

    Re: Designing User Interface

    Nothing more to say about it really.

    You simply take a screen shot of the current UI you are working on. Split the key elements that make the UI up into sections with an art package like photoshop...

    Re: Problem with a list printing its elements

    Apologies it took so long to reply, I have an irregular sleep pattern :p

    Lets take this line by line.

    Presumptions:

    You have a class declared "Bank" which is just a glorified list of the...

    Re: Problem with a list printing its elements

    are you perhaps looking for something like?

    Bank_Obj transactions = new Bank_Obj();
    foreach (Bank_Obj i in Bank_Obj.list)

    Re: Close and Keep

    the "this" keyword simply put means "the active form" in the case your are using it in.

    So this would mean if the active form happens to be the main form or only form that the programs starts...

    Re: Designing User Interface

    I'd have to agree, VS is great for quick mockups in front of a client. Also you could do the unthinkable, use a piece of paper and a pencil. Shocking I know, but some still use those ancient...

    Re: I can't string from somewhere else

    You should familiarise yourself with the idea of Scope of variables. It will save you some major headaches down the road.

    The long and short of it is:

    Anything within the proceeding curly...

    Re: Escape Ampersand in .net

    You will have to forgive me if this is wrong, but with oledb, which I use often, we simply put a "@" before the declared string. So for example:

    string sql_string = @"SELECT [tbl_users.name] FROM...
