    Re: Using members in .NET reference

    Okay, let me see if I've got this straight. I've got a tlb. I'm importing it. When I type the name of the namespace, the popup list gives me options for many functions and classes, so Visual Studios...

    Using members in .NET reference DLL

    EDIT: If there's a mod or someone who can edit thread titles, can you please add the word 'DLL' to the end for more clarity?

    I'm doing something here that I'm unfamiliar with so I apologise in...

    Using class from DLL in Visual C++ Express

    I have a DLL that contains code for an API. No LIB file was given. The API has a class with several public variables and functions. In Visual C++ Express, I used Project->Add->Existing Item and...
  4. Re: Strange cause and effect with return

    The initial problem was caused by me not initialising an integer to 0. I suppose when you're compiling to debug, it performs that for you. But I still have no idea why it worked in some cases.

    Re: CSocket: OnRecieve not being called

    If I understand you correctly, you're saying that I should derive CSocket again with OnReceive for the sockRecv. This still isn't working.

    Could someone please post some example code of a working...

    Re: CSocket: OnRecieve not being called

    Yes. The sending program only ever sends on port 2099 (which is what VTRACKPORT is set to).

    Would this cause a problem? How would I rectify this?

    EDIT: I commented out the line...

    CSocket: OnRecieve not being called

    I have derived CSocket so that my application can accept a connection from a pre-existing application that sends four null-terminated strings. It is accepting and setting up the connection fine but...

    Task Manager Icon

    I am setting the icon for my application correctly, insofar as it displays properly both in both the title bar and when I press alt-tab. However, on the task manager it displays as a default Windows...

    Re: CButton with bitmap AND text

    I'd prefer not to have to derive from CButton as that would complicate my code more than it's worth.

    CButton with bitmap AND text

    I have a CButton which must have a red background and dynamically changing text. Seeing as background colour is not particularly easy thing to change for buttons, I decided to set the button to have...
  11. Re: Strange cause and effect with return

    I found the error: in some cases one variable wasn't being properly initialised. This error only occured in release mode - I suppose that debug mode initialises variables differently.

    That said,...
  12. [RESOLVED] Strange cause and effect with return

    Okay, this is a wierd one. My original code is as follows:

    ...
    if(lastSize==0)
    return false;

    myFont->DeleteObject();
    myFont->CreateFont(lastSize, 0, ... );

    [RESOLVED] Detect when CEdit loses focus

    I have a dialog with a pair of single line CEdit controls which contain related values - one is an angle and the other a length. The user can type a number in either of the boxes and it will be...

    Re: Enable/Disable OK button in CDialog

    Ah, I see. Thanks.

    I was worried that this was some obscure C++ flag that I'd never seen before! :eek:

    [RESOLVED] Enable/Disable OK button in CDialog

    The OK button in a modal dialog box is initialised to be disabled so the user cannot close the box. When certain conditions are met, the button should be enabled. After searching this forum, I came...

    Re: CEdit Message on Enter?

    Does anyone else have any ideas on this? What if it was in a dialog box, would it be easier then?

    I can't believe that this isn't a standard thing that CEdit boxes do; it's something that many...
  19. Re: how to change the size of a font inside an Edit Control

    Handle the OnCtlColor message in the parent class of the control. That allows you to set the background colour. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/0wwk06hc(vs.80).aspx

    SetTextColor will set...

    I don't understand. Are you suggesting creating the socket in the same thread as my UI and merely interact with it through the windows messages?

    As for examples, there are plenty out there but...

    Re: Using CSockets and CArchive - Blocking

    So does that mean that I don't need to create another thread to handle the socket? If not, where do I put a loop to stop the thread from dying?

    Can anyone provide an example (or link to one) of a...

    Int Array Maximum Length?

    I have a program that requires a 2d int array of size [1920][480] but this crashes every time I try to run it. With some fiddling, I realised that a 1d array of length 258880 will run but 258881 will...

    It is not created with either of those styles. The second sentence is irrelevant as I am not explicitly calling ShowWindow.

    Re: OnShowWindow not being called

    What you are saying is correct but you seem to be misunderstanding my point.

    From here:

    Now; the OnShowWindow function is being called when the program starts and closes but it does not seem...
