  1. Re: [RESOLVED] Looking for suggestions for class design for datagridview datasource

I assume so as far as how it binds. Auto-Properties are syntactic sugar in C#.

When you create an auto-property, the compiler underneath the covers creates a private field and a pair of get/set...
  2. Re: Looking for suggestions for class design for datagridview datasource

    Got it.

    Use private getters:

    public decimal SignBonusValue { private get; set; }

Then you can new up the object in one step with:
  3. Re: Looking for suggestions for class design for datagridview datasource

Rather than using private fields and accessor methods, you can just use auto-properties.

For example, this code is replaced with:

private Decimal SignBonusValue = 0; private int...

    Re: I need Taskbar APIs

Still not clear on what you are trying to do.

Why do you need to touch the registry to work with the taskbar?
  5. Re: Why can't I login to the web even though the User and password are correct ?

    I don't understand your response.

    Re: I need Taskbar APIs

This thread is 13 years old. At this point it is considered bad form for a program to alter user settings (not to mention that the program will now need elevated permissions to be able to make...

    Re: Stop a thread

Our point is you need to exit cleanly from the thread so it can cleanly terminate. If you are calling multiple functions inside a thread then check for the exit event after each function call. If...

And does that function have an alternative that allows it to be cancelled?

    Re: Stop a thread

You need to restructure your code. Use an exit event as others have mentioned and inside the
some_function_that_takes_long_time(); function, frequently check if the exit event has been set. If it...

    Re: Generate Tiny URL

VB6 was around long before tinyurl, so if you want it to interact with something new, you'll need to wrap that functionality into something VB6 can understand.

To me, that would be a COM object.

Did you look in task manager to see if the memory increases?

  14. Re: How to use FCKeditorV2 instead of FreeTextBox ?

In your other thread I mentioned about staying with current technologies. The first link above shows creating a new project with asp.net. In the screenshot there is also a new project template option...
  15. Re: Why can't I login to the web even though the User and password are correct ?

Although I began coding 25 years, I only started coding ASP.NET Web apps about 10 years ago with ASP.NET MVC web applications before moving on to web apps in .net core.

The version of .net you are...

  20. Re: Looking for some help with PictureBox in C-Sharp

You might want to think about looking into .NET Core 3.1.

If you are developing websites in C#, .net has come a long way from .Net 2.0.

Microsoft also has a Visual Studio 2019 Community...
  21. Re: Help in Converting Dialog MFC Application to Command Line Application

It depends on how the MFC app was written. If it was written in a manner that separated the UI from the data/logic then it should be simple to pull that code out and put it into a console app. On...
  22. Re: Why can't I login to the web even though the User and password are correct ?

Upgrade may have been a poor word choice. What I mean't to say is "...why you can't use .net core?"

    Re: WM_TIMER message

You never want to block the UI thread from processing messages. That is a basic rule for Windows programming. Using a message box or sleep inside the message pump blocks the ui thread.
  25. Re: Why can't I login to the web even though the User and password are correct ?

Out of curiosity, is there any reason you can't upgrade to .net core?
