    Re: -Wno-unused-varialbe flag has no effect

    Was it the switch from using = to using := in your assignments?

    Makefiles can be very picky things when it comes to evaluating variables, and the two forms mean two very different things.

    Re: cin isn't blocking

    TBH, I would create a side project just to investigate cout, cin and a small number of threads.
    But even then, "it works" would prove nothing useful, though failure would clearly demonstrate that...

    So is this your magnum opus, or have you just found some source code?
    Because if it is downloaded code, it would be wise of you to tell us.

    Re: cin isn't blocking

    Maybe your input stream is in an error state.

    if ( cin >> selection ) {
    cout << selection;
    } else {
    std::cerr << "cin is borked - do something!" << std::endl;
    break; // no more...

    Re: Unit testing in C++?

    So what do they use on all their other older projects?

    It would make sense to use what other people (who've been there longer) already know how to use.

  10. Re: How to disable/grayed-out the 'X' close button in dialog?

    So, the dialog goes away and some worker thread then tries to update some non-existent UI element and promptly dies.

    This is generally regarded as being a big no-no....
  11. Re: How to disable/grayed-out the 'X' close button in dialog?

    Are your separate worker thread(s) directly updating the UI?
