please be more specific..
do you want to capture only the ctrl?
or remove the ctrl from combinations?(ctrl + a)

You said in a vb form
Inside your form only, have a look at keypreview of form (=set it true) and keyUp event.
If you want something of amazing, look at attached.
(tested on win2k professional and server)
...at present time, using mainly Net 4.0, Vs 2010
