    Urgent! Unexpected error in Package and Deployment Wizard

    Hi,

    I've installed VB into my notebook running on Windows XP.

    When I used the Package and Deployment Wizard, an error message, "Unexpected error number 380 has occurred: Invalid property value", prompted up.
    There's no indication saying my code fail, so is something goes wrong during installation? But I've re-install many times already.

    My software was fully checked in my PC, under Windows 2000, and no problem when packaging.

    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Urgent! Unexpected error in Package and Deployment Wizard

    Hi MKSa,

    Thanks!
    But I'm using VB6, it doesn't have any solution for VB6.
    Here's the VB6Dep.ini file found in my PC:-

    [SetupWiz]
    Drive1=1.44 MB,1457664,512
    Drive2=2.88 MB,2915328,1024
    Drive3=1.2 MB,1213952,512
    Drive4=720 KB,730112,1024
    BootstrapPath=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\SETUP.EXE
    Setup1Path=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\SETUP1.EXE
    DepPath=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\VB6STKIT.DLL
    UninstallerPath=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\ST6UNST.EXE
    MakeCabPath=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MAKECAB.EXE

    But in my notebook, only have:-

    [SetupWiz]
    Drive1=1.44 MB,1457664,512
    Drive2=2.88 MB,2915328,1024
    Drive3=1.2 MB,1213952,512
    Drive4=720 KB,730112,1024

    It suggested to reinstall the missing device, but I don't have any. Then it suggested to comment the line in the configuration file by adding a semicolon ( at the beginning of the line.
    Where?

    Thanks!

    Re: Urgent! Unexpected error in Package and Deployment Wizard

    Are you sure that you have only four lines in the file VB6Dep.ini? If that is the case then you are missing many lines and many sections. Try to get a new VB6Dep.ini and copy that to PDWizard. Typically this directory will be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\. Do not use the VB6Dep.ini on your Pc since it has different format.

    Sorry, there're many other sections in the file. It seems that only the [setup wiz] contains different lines. I've already check with the required .dll by Package and Deployment Wizard, no file is missing and all have same versions with my PCs.
    The vb6dep.ini in my notebook is originally from VB6 CDs, and I never success in running the Package wizard.
    Do you think that XP is a problem?

    Thanks

    It works on XP. Does your notebook have a floopy? One can try commenting out the four lines in the [SetupWiz] section by putting a ; before each line and see if it works. The other thing, how you found out that all the required dll's are properly installed on your machine?

    I've tried to add ; to each line of Drive, but still have this Unexpected error.
    From Microsoft support, it mentions the dlls needed in Package, and I've searched in my notebook, nothing missing.

    After clicking the Package, it's working ... Then right after "Loading Package Types" is done, it failed at "Preparing to show the wizard"

    Forgot to say, Service Pack 6 has ready download.

    Thanks!
