May be i've lost my head like your PostMessage had lost "it's hWnd"?
I have not understood your question
Please be more clear and post a code snippet.

u can also use sendmessage() or sendmessageTimeOut() but still i cant imagine how a handle can be lost within the application when posted, is this the pool of posted messages that has a leak .... ....

somebody fix the leak ...calling Microsoft Plumberguy for XP......

u can make sure that the darn message comes back home with all the goodies by keeping an eye of SendMessage()...

its a very hubby sorta message u r posting ....

    cheers!
