need help with adding small textures to a 256x256 texture an if no room create a new.

Hello all,
I need to create some 256x256 bitmaps from lots of other bitmaps of 256x256 or less in size...

i know how to work with the bitmaps like loading and creating

but can you help me with the looping process of adding multiple bitmaps to a 256x256 bitmap without going out of bounds or resizing them to fit and when the 256x256 bitmap is full create a new one then continue on...

please help i've been trying to figure this out for over two weeks...
