MapPoint 2002 object created in a code behind page

    Hi,

When I try to create an Application object from the MapPoint ActiveX control in a code behinde page in ASP.NET, it doesn't work . It always stops with a runtime exception.

    "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Server execution failed"

The event viewer always says that there was a problem with DCOM.

"The Server {GUID} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout".

I wonder why, because I create the object in the global.asax file, which should be executed on the server
I think. So, why should this control register with DCOM ?

    Thx in advance and regards,

    Shamino

Sorry, for the double post, i was somewhat impatient. I have to add, that MapPoint.NET is not an option because I need MapPoint for an offline demo.

    Question server execution fails

Hi Shamino, I noticed that it's been a while since you first post this problem.

Right now, I am facing the same exact problem, error and event. So I just wonder if you have fixed the problem yet? If so, I will appreciate if you can share some advises or pointers. Thanks a lot!

Well, I am quite sure you have heard this in the MSDN forums, but the problem with MapPoint 2002 is, that it is not allowed by the license to use it in web applications. This was the only answer the MSDN MVPs gave me when I asked them. So I have no solution, sorry

Re: MapPoint 2002 object created in a code behind page

    Hi,

I am able to access the MapPoint Activex Control 11.0 through my web application on my System.

But it forces me to choose windows authentication in IIS.

I would like to know how to avoid windows authentication this and use the activex control in Intranet.

All the users are having runtime license for MapPoint.

Any pointer / reference regarding this wud be much appreciated

    Thanks & Regards,
    Vijay
