    Oracle Client Installable

    Hi All,

    Can any one help us by giving the answers to my question.

    1. Is the Oracle cleint a free software?
    2. Is there any difference between Oracle Instant Client and Oracle Client?
    3. If Oracle client is free then from where we can download the installable?

    1) My understanding is the Oracl client is not free it has to be licensed with your server (cal).

    2) Don't know sorry.

    2) excerpt from Oracle web: Instant Client allows you to run your applications without installing the standard Oracle client or having an ORACLE_HOME. OCI, OCCI, ODBC, and JDBC applications work without modification, while using significantly less disk space than before. Even SQL*Plus can be used with Instant Client. No recompile, no hassle.

    3) you can download Oracle software here, you may be asked to register the free otn membership though:
