folder C:\I386
Hello,
I need to understand what is this folder related to, in Windows:
C:\I386.
What does it usually contain?
Any detail might help.

On the windows installation CD any DLL's, applications and drivers related to the x68 are stored in a subdirectory named I386. The installation copies every file out of that directory into your C:\Windows\System32 directory. C:\I386 might be just a temporary storage for that. I have deleted it after the installation

On the other hand, it is quite handy as it allows you to install other programs bundled with your OS such as IIS, Outlook Express etc, without having the need to search for your CD. So in my office environment where the only the IT folks keeps the install CDs, I prefer to keep a copy of the directory on my harddisk for convienent.

Weird, why in my comuter C folder doesnt have i386 ???

I think it happens only when you put the setting to copy all installation files to your computer or when somebody copied the folder from the CD-ROM to the hard disk
