    Cool Ip Packets Decoder

    Hi...

I am trying to make my own PACKET decoder. I just dont know where to start. I just wanted to get the SOURCE and DESTINATION address of a packet in my network.

I would like to get both the MAC Address and IP address of the SOURCE and DESTINATION.

Anybody can help me where to start.

I would like to do this in VC++. If anybody have any sample code that they can lend me to study on I would really appreciate it.... Thank you...

--- Take a look at the Sniffer caled Ethereal.

The source code is available, it is made in QT !! so it is source compatiable.

Else, search for sniffers and u will get a lot of help there.

    Enjoy

If you are using regular Winsock, its not gonna be possible for ya to access the raw level....
have a look at WinPCap development the source codes are available under GPL , and is one of the easiest to start working with and understanding Raw packets access.

Well, "later" is better than "never".

Sure it might be helpful for OP! (Considering that he/she had waited three years just to answer... perhaps he/she waited another four yeas for your decoder!)

Which, BTW, considering the posted URL, apparently is for JPEG2000, not IP packets. Well, perhaps, if the OP didn't find one during the past almost seven years, any decoder would do...
