Can we access tally data in vb. if yes, how. In case it is password protected, how to get password

Contact the person who has installed the Tally package at your end.
They got some APIs which you have to purchase for interfacing with Tally.

The info is not exact,Tally is a very costly software which is used by Big & small companies TILL Date.
They have come up with recent Tally 11.01
.Tally uses .dbf but they encrypt the file in such a manner which can not be decrypted.
!!! Even tally people cant.
If you lose the Password , it cant be cracked.
Approximate price of Tally is Rs(Indian Curency) 16,000/-

If they don't know how to decrypt the file then how do they read these files in their application?

I don't know tally but it must be because the password is not a "password" but something like a cripting key. So the password is not stored, but used to cipher and uncipher file contents.
