This is for the MVPs that plan to attend the MVP global summit in Seattle in April.
According to the official site, registration shall start this month:
Registration to attend the MVP Global Summit will open in January 2008 and be accessible from this Web site.
I will be there and I think it would be good to know how many of you also plan to be there. Last year 4 of us managed to register for the same hotel, perhaps this year we can do better. Of course, first we need to get the hotel list from Microsoft to decide where to stay (I found The Westin very good last year). But we should watch that web page and be prepared to register as soon as it opens to increase our chances of staying together.
BTW, I believe this year all hotels will be non-smoking.
I heard that Microsoft stopped sponsoring the travel, is it true ?
I don't remember them paying for travel expencess (airplane, train, etc.).
Travel
Microsoft will not be paying for any travel expenses for MVPs or RDs. If you are a Microsoft employee who needs to travel to this event, your department will be responsible for travel expenses.
But they do pay for accommodations (hotel, meals, parties )
Accommodations
Microsoft has reserved several Seattle hotels for the MVP Global Summit. Attendees will be able to make their hotel reservations as part of the registration process.
Microsoft will be paying for hotel accommodations for MVPs and RDs for the nights of April 14, 15, 16, and 17, 2008, if the request is made during the registration process.
Please note that MVP Global Summit attendees are welcome to come early or extend their accommodations, but they will be responsible for related expenses. There will be a date range covering a series of days before and after the event that attendees can request to add on to their itinerary via the registration tool. As soon as we know the dates and the cost per night, we'll post that information here.
I see. I think that depends on the local subsidiary. In Romanian they didn't pay anything for traveling. But I remember Guido saying the same about the German MVPs being supported with a similar amount for the 2005 summit. I guess that depends on each Microsoft subsidiary's budget. I guess you should check that with your MVP lead.
Last year they were paying some indian MVP's certain amount (300 USD or something) to assist the travel.
Yeah, they used to. 385 actually, I think. But that's not there this time. However, I hear there a day extra stay on sharing basis or something like that.
