WASAPI in exclusive mode

Hi,

I am currently trying to open an audio device in exclusive-mode using PortAudio and the WASAPI sound architechture in Vista.

I have successfully opened the device in shared-mode but when I try to open it in the same format (sample rate, bit depth, channels...) it fails in exclusive-mode with an error message saying that the format is not supported.

Is there a way to know easily the supported format that would work in exclusive-mode vs those supported in shared-mode ?
