That happened less than 1500 meters from my home. It was amazing that there as not serious loss of life/injury or property damage. A few small changes in the location or timing could have made it a major disaster.

Yes, definately a "Wow".
FYI: The pictures of the tall "apartment" buildings in some of the shots (starting in the fourth on on the linked images) are owned by Donald Trump.
September 2007, my wife and I were giving serious consideration to moving into that very building (but instead chose an 1880 "Brownstone" bacause it had much of the character, but was also fully modernized.

All aircraft are designed to land on water...some are designed to take back off again...
Plane would have floated much longer had a female passenger not opened the aft door...they couldn't get it closed all the way...AND the Captain holds a Commercial Glider rating...

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."...Calvin Coolidge 30th President of the USA.
