network printer
why do we need to install a network printer(need to know manufacturer name, ip address....)? so complicated. we can just install a printer locally and make it shared. some printers use usb connection and it's very simple. thanks

Re: network printer
If you have XP+, and click on someone elses SHARED printer, it will automatically load the drivers and configure the printer for you.
If it's a network printer, then it sits by itself, and you need to be able to find it.
I just got Windows 7 working with a Belkin Wireless Print Server, and an HP MFC Printer!
All I had to do was to change the port, to the printer's address

Re: network printer
pc has to be on and connected, or else shared printer doesn't work
windows 7 will keep it in a queue, though.
