API for dockable GUI elements where you define the docking point's location & size?
I am wanting to write a windows program that is an equation builder that uses drag and drop functionality with dockable GUI elements. The dockable “elements” will be containers for variables or other mathematical operators.
Ideally I want to be able to drag and drop one element onto another element where it sorta snaps to grid on a dockable location that I will determine.
For example someone can drag and drop greek letters from a palette into a work area to build an equation. The greek variable will ideally have two docking points. One in the upper right for an exponent. One in the lower right for an index/subscript. Then someone can drag another variable or number into those two docking locations of the variable.
Is there any sort of Windows API that will allow for rapid coding of such functionality?
Thanks in advance.

Nope. Look into HTML5 though. It's the newest technology.
