Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
If I remeber correctly MDAC caused an error under Vista. Could be the same thing in Windows 7.
Your best bet IMO is to use the virtual machine and XP Mode in windows 7.

Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
Well first you need to download it from M$ but if you search with your friends raj, you will find answers to your problems already published on several sites... Like tek-tips.com in the vb5/6 forum or over at vbforums.com in their vb6 forum or here http://www.adras.com/VB6-on-Windows-...t22181-16.html and I thought we here had a thread like this one recently...
Good Luck

Download it, Install it, Launch it. It will give you a clean virtual image of XP within Windows 7 and is quite useful. I have several configurations on my Windows 7 PC. The USB ports are a bit tricky to use with some hardware but so far that is the only issue I have encountered.
I use VB6, Embedded VB, VS2003, VS2005 and VS2008 all in different virtual machines.

No such issue here. There has to be a different reason. Did you run as ADMIN when you installed?

Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
I always select no as I do not use Visual Source Safe. I use a program of my own (which I am fixing up slowly but surely...)... So, is UAC off? And did you run as admin?

UAC=User access control. You will find it in Vista and Windows 7 in the control panel. It will prevent programs from doing many things on your system without your permission if on which is the default state.

Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
Just type UAC in the search box, and you'll see the CHANGE dialog. I suggest you leave it at the highest setting.
Un-install whatever you have now. Browse the CD. Right-Click on SETUP, and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR and you will have permission to write to the registry

Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
That would be the HIGHEST setting. Good to use every day, but not if you think you have a problem. Move it to the bottom, if you want to turn it off.
Go to Program Features, and see if traces are there. REMOVE THEM!!!
Then, right-click on SETUP.EXE and run as ADMINISTRATOR. It will work.

Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
If you are also having a problem installign under XP then the UAC is not the issue as it does not exist under XP. I would suspect the installation media in this case.
Is this a CD, DVD, ISO? Is it offical direct from Microsoft or a Warez from a web site somewhere?

Programs and Features, in Control Panel. It's where you Add/Remove Programs in Vista/Windows 7

Re: Vb6 Installation issue on Windows 7
Again if it is also not working under XP then there is another issue. See my post at the bottom of the first page in this thread.
