Which programming language could I use?

Hello to all.
I don't know db very well, but i have a little question.
I now have 2 mdb files: one with an archive of tables and reports, and another which contains some masks and a lot of visual basic code to handle both mdb files.
The question is: if I would like to rewrite all the code, mantaining the mdb file which contains tables and reports, what type of language could i use? I write C code for other porpoises, but it isn't the right choice for db interfacing.
Is there another language that i could use?
