DBA Technical Lead

Our client reshapes the way the world receives and uses business information and advances business intelligence and cultural interest.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide support for over 700 databases comprised of Oracle, SQL Server, MYSQL, Informix, Sybase, DB2, and UDB

Work with offshore DBAs to fix issues, provide guidance as requested, and enforce database standards

Lead a team of Database Administrators that are responsible for operational database support and project implementation

Participate in design reviews to ensure all engineering and design packages meet database engineering standards and policies

Develop and maintain key metrics on database performance, capacity and availability

Participate in on-demand cross-training initiatives and in-house training programs to further the
knowledge of all DBAs

Work with Database Engineering team to introduce new technologies and ensure that the technologies are ready for production use

Required Qualifications:

A minimum 10 years database administration experience with 5 years hands on database experience with evaluation, design, and implementation of multiple database technologies in complex tiered environments

Strong knowledge of Oracle 10g and 11g including RAC, Streams, Dataguard/Active Dataguard, Advanced Security, Partitioning

Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and 2008 Standard & Enterprise including DB Mirroring, Log Shipping, Replication (Merge, Transactional, and Peer to Peer)

Strong knowledge of MYSQL 5.x Community and Enterprise including Replication Strong knowledge of tools such Oracle GRID Control and MYSQL Enterprise Dashboard

Working knowledge of operating systems including Windows 2003/2008, Redhat Linux 4.x/5.x, Solaris 9/10, and AIX 5.3/6.1

Strong knowledge of internals and architecture for Oracle, SQL Server, MYSQL

Strong background in database standards and documentation

Strong background in metrics gathering for performance, capacity planning, and day to day operations

Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of operating system and database technologies

Excellent oral and written communication

Demonstrated leadership skills

Bachelor of Science degree
