Unhappy not rendering properly in IE8

I am not a programmer by trade but I need some help. We have created an application with a calendar function. When viewing the calendar in IE8 it shows a horizontal scroll bar that i do not want. It seems to work fine in Firefox. what is the problem with IE 8?

    It's quite obvious...

What framework of the .NET framework are you using?
    What exactly are you doing?
    Source may be nice
    et al.

One of the first things to try in IE8 is to turn on compatibility view. I found that even some asp.net web controls just don't work unless compatibility view is turned on.
