    LDAP help for newbie

    Hello,

i'm not an expirienced programmed or LDAP user.
Looking for a vbs script which will be able to be used as a regualr vbs or inside access or excel which will be able to look for certain fields in certain DBs. for example, a function which will be inputed with: server ip, user name, password, ou+ou+ou, user to look for, field to return and will return that field's data. such as:

get (ip_of_server, admin, pass, Germany/Europe/World, John Smith, city) and will output "Munchen".

    Thanks,
    Gabriel

Doesn't sound like you understand how CODING works.

Or, the FORUM... Please post only ONE QUESTION at a time!

If we answer one, then read another one, we have to type the answer again

Basically you need to build a select query and from the sound of it you want it to be partially dynamic.

    basically something like

Select Field1,Field2,Field3 from table where Field4=data1 and Field5=data2

Fields and table above would be replaced by you actual object names
Data would be replaced by actual data to search for in quotes if not numeric

the fields after the select will be returned

This select string would be passed as a source for a new recordset object and then the resulting recordset will hold your selected data. For more info do a net search on selecting data

    You're both right. Let me put my question in a better form;

I would like to have a "simple" vbs code to be put inside excel / access to export data from a remote LDAP server.
The parameters to input and output i listed above. If you can please reffer me to a manual or anywhere i can learn how to do this properly, better. If not, maybe you can reffer me to an allready built open-source project i may be able to use.
    Thanks.

Well, if you type LDAP VB6 into any search engine, you would have seen that you aren't the first one to ask it. http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/to...ion-using-vb6/

I'd use Powershell 2.0, which most PC's can run, that does AD calls via its plug-in
