    Re: Error Accessing Registry

To my great surprise the HKCU\software\classes\typelib in my home system contained only 2 entries which are from skype.
But the system here in the office tries to read hundreds of GUID named entries from there. I will again compare from which keys my home system does all the readings.
It is hard to tell, because they are more than 20000 entries read, and every 5th or 6th comes out with NAME NOT FOUND.
I don't know if even restoring that typelib path will remedy things.

did you check the local machine keys. The reference info resides here on my machine. I have no typelib key under HKCU but the list is long under HKLM

    Re: Error Accessing Registry

Well, there are many entries from HKLM
There are also many entries where the result was NAME NOT FOUND.

But now I have spotted some entries which end in a BUFFER OVERFLOW.
I will try to eliminate these and maybe the error vanishes.
But I'll have to do that next week. Leaving the office now.
But I will also make a detailed check in my home system again, tonight.

Thank you all so far for the valuable input.

    Re: Error Accessing Registry

I have to say, the event listing of my home system looks quite similar. There are many registry key readings resulting in NAME NOT FOUND, nearly the same readings with BUFFER OVERFLOW.
It seems VB gets a GUID from somewhere in the registry and then tries to find it in several other locations. It tries also in HKCU\Software\Classes\Typelib
The only difference actually is, that I'm not getting the Access error at home.
