    Sun certification for java

    hello,
    I was interested in doing a java certification course online. Somebody suggested me that I should go for Java certification by sun. Can anybody give me some idea which certification should I go for, keeping in mind that it helps me getting a better job.

    The basic Java certification is called SCJP (Sun Certified Java Programmer).

    But note that Java certification courses don't teach you Java. They only help you organize what you already know to fit the questions you're going to be asked. So an alternative is to just sit the certification exam without preparation. And that's fully in line with the George Eliot quote you made . If you're good enougth you pass. If not at least you know what you need to improve.

    Anyway I've never heard of anyone getting a job by being certified. What you need is an education with a degree and/or solid job experience, and the ability to demonstrate what you know in an interview.
