    Re: So did the vBulletin guys give up or what?

    Up until yesterday, the forums should have been running a lot better with fewer-to-no errors.

    As of yesterday, and especially today, you should have seen the slowness come back and possibly some of the other errors. These are being hammered on right now. I was told the slowness should be resolved or nearly resolve) with the exception of getting database errors. They are working on the databse errors now.

    Were things running better prior to yesterday?

    More reliable I guess, but still very slow compared to most forums and much slower than it used to be. Definitely not as bad as today though.

    We should be operating a lot smoother at this point. If not, we should probably start a new thread title "October Issues" or something....

    Thanks,

    I was just coming back to delete my post. It's back to about a 30 second response time.

    =====

    Actually, quite a bit has been done. I could pull up the list of some of the things the developers and admins have done. There has really been a number of things.

    The most recent was adding even more hardware. That seems to have helped.

    The last two things that I know occurred were (1 step) Adding memory to existing servers and (2nd step) Adding new servers.....

    So there is one example of the most recent two steps....

    If the site would be just a little bit slower I could probably fall asleep in front of the computer.

    Absoutely! The forum just crashed again while I was replying to a user's post (in the C++ forum) and I had to wait eight (yes, EIGHT) minutes before I could access the forums again to see if my post had succeeded.

    I then came to post this comment here - and got another crash (DB error) when I pressed the 'Go Advanced' button. Followed by another 4 minute wait

    I'm definitely going to start looking for another programmer's forum now. This problem's been going on for way too long.

    I think there are times when it is slow enough for you to accomplish that anyway Marius....
