    filename doesn't chagne

    this is the code:
    Code:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string>
    #include <iostream>
    using namespace std;

    int main ()
    {
      int result,i,j;
      char oldname[] ="C:\Users\Alex\Desktop\oldname.txt";

     char newname[] ="newname.txt";
      result= rename( oldname , newname );
      if ( result == 0 )
        puts ( "File successfully renamed" );
      else
        perror( "Error renaming file" );
      cin.get();
      return 0;
    }
    and it doesn't find it
    it says the the word:"Users" is incorrectly formed universal character name

    Re: filename doesn't chagne

    You need to either use a double backslash since a single backslash is the escape character (as shown in the link GCDEF gave you) or you can use a single forward slash (as in *nix) instead.
    Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place.
    Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by
    definition, not smart enough to debug it.
