    Request for a new forum

    Hi.

Would it be possible adding a section for Android Programming underneath Java?

    Or, even better:

    Mobile programming
    with Android
    and Windows Phone

    Just a thought.

    Hannes

Re: Request for a new forum

There's already a forum under Other Programming for Mobile Development.
All advice is offered in good faith only. All my code is tested (unless stated explicitly otherwise) with the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio (using the supported features of the latest standard) and is offered as examples only - not as production quality. I cannot offer advice regarding any other c/c++ compiler/IDE or incompatibilities with VS. You are ultimately responsible for the effects of your programs and the integrity of the machines they run on. Anything I post, code snippets, advice, etc is licensed as Public Domain https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ and can be used without reference or acknowledgement. Also note that I only provide advice and guidance via the forums - and not via private messages!

Yes there is. But I was wondering if it could have sub forums labelled as I have in my first post.

    Hannes -

How many Android questions are getting asked? Is it really enough to justify its own area?

Re: Request for a new forum

    I suppose not.

Thing is, I see that android programming forums are popping up daily. A forum such as StackOverflow has millions of android questions already. I was just thinking : Maybe we're falling behind in that area.

Also, with our forum "Mobile development" there is some activity, but if it could be possible having sub-focus areas, maybe it will bring in a lot of new users.

Isn't that a bit like the chicken and the egg?

It's the site's responsibility to attract the users isn't it? If I were seeking information regarding coding for mobiles I wouldn't be very attracted by a forum described as
Discuss wireless and mobile development issues. This includes topics such as J2ME, BREW, Microsoft embedded VB/VC++, the .NET Compact Framework, and more.
instead I would go to a place with more specific information.

I agree with Hannes, if CG has the intention of also attracting users in that area it's better to have specific forums.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place.
Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by
definition, not smart enough to debug it.
