Folks, we used to have this behavior, but now when I click on a thread link in each of the forums, it always takes me to the first page (even if there are multiple pages). The links in the list of active threads in the Settings page behaves the same way. Can we go back to the old behavior where clicking on the link takes you to the last page of the thread?
Wouldn't the assumption be that you want to read a thread from the beginning, versus reading the last posts?
Sure, for those folks that only visit the forum infrequently, but for folks that read all the time, it's a pain (cus we've already read the first 6 pages). It's especially annoying on the subscribed list in the settings page. A thread shows up here if there is a new post to a thread that a member has responded to, so of course the member would want the link to take them to the latest thread entry.
Btw, other sites I visit take you to the last thread entry when you click on a link.
I agree that if you've already been to a thread, it should take you to the last 'read' post by default.....
I took a look in the main options page and didn't see any settings related to this. Let me forward the issue to a few others and see if they know how to adjust the settings - or if they can be adjusted.
Hey Arjay - I was told something seems broken by Heidi. She is rebuilding the thread indexes. Let's see if that fixes things. There are lots of threads, so this will take a chunk of time to rebuild.
